Krisztina Szabó

Hungarian-Canadian, mezzo-soprano Krisztina Szabó is highly sought after in North America and Europe as an artist of supreme musicianship and stagecraft. At home, Krisztina regularly performs with the Canadian Opera Company, Vancouver Opera, Tapestry Opera, Early Music Vancouver, and Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra. In 2018, Krisztina made her Royal Opera début in George Benjamin’s new opera, Lessons in Love and Violence, the recording of which received a Grammy nomination for Best Opera Recording. She is known for her promotion and performance of contemporary Canadian works.  

In the 2025-26 season, Krisztina performs with the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra (Handel’s Messiah), Vancouver Symphony (Handel's Messiah), Manitoba Opera (Marcellina in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro) and the world premieres of Jeffrey Ryan's Mother/Land  (Naomi) with Vancouver Bach Choir and the orchestral setting of Jeffrey Ryan's Miss Carr in Seven Scenes with Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.

Ms. Szabó is an Assistant Professor of Voice and Opera at the University of British Columbia School of Music.
