Duncan McFarlane

Duncan McFarlane has created text for art song, chamber music, choral music, and opera for performers and producers in Canada, the US and UK, with recent and upcoming performances at Roulette (Brooklyn), Brooklyn Academy of Music, Oxford International Song Festival (Oxford Lieder), SongFest USA, Manhattan School of Music, Festival dei Due mondi di Spoleto, Radio France, CanStage, Massey Hall, Salle Bourgie, Music on Main, Soundstreams, Fashion Art Toronto, Standing Wave Ensemble, Vancouver Chamber Choir, and at Banff. He has studied with A. F. Moritz, André Alexis, Linda Hutcheon, Mark Campbell, and Stephen Schwartz and his work has been supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council, Toronto Arts Council, and SOCAN Foundation. His next project with Cecilia Livingston is ‘Slow Disclosure,’ a song cycle on the art of Paula Rego for Sparks & Wiry Cries.
