KATE FOGG
Maine-based soprano Kate Fogg (she/her) has been praised for her “rich coloratura” (Ludwig Van) and “impeccably placed, safe and effective” voice (Le Devoir). She is a recent graduate of McGill University’s Schulich School of Music, where she earned her Master of Music in Voice and Opera with Dr. Tracy Smith Bessette. She was the 2025 first-place winner of the Wirth Vocal Prize.
This season (2025/2026) she joined Tri Cities Opera as Nella in Gianni Schicchi (role debut). This November, she gave an English recital at the Canadian Opera Company’s Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre. This summer, she is thrilled to return to Opera5’s Toronto Opera Festival singing Lauretta in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi and chorus in Suor Angelica.
Last season (2024/2025) she debuted the role of Clara Johnson in Opera McGill’s production of The Light In The Piazza, and joined Opera5’s inaugural Toronto Opera Festival, singing various roles in William Finn’s Elegies and covering Little Sister in the world premier of Ryan Trew and Rachel Khrem’s Come Closer. She also presented a recital as part of Schulich @ Bon-Pasteur at the Canadian Center for Architecture in Montréal.
The 2023/2024 season saw role debuts including La Fee in Massenet’s Cendrillon (Opera McGill) and Governess in Britten’s The Turn of The Screw (Opera5 Intern Program). She also joined Maine’s own Opera In The Pines’ immersive reimagining of The Crucible as Mary Warren.
Outside of singing, she is a passionate voice teacher to students young and old, and enjoys time spent laughing with her partner, friends, family, and her cats Linus and Auggie.
