Greg Dahl

Baritone Gregory Dahl is one of Canada’s leading dramatic voices, praised for his “commanding presence” and “warm, powerful voice” (Winnipeg Free Press). His repertoire spans some of opera’s most commanding roles, including the Dutchman (Der fliegende Holländer), Scarpia (Tosca), Iago (Otello), and the title roles in Rigoletto and Don Pasquale. He has appeared on major stages across North America and Europe, including the Canadian Opera Company, English National Opera, Opéra de Montréal, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, and Teatro Real. In the 2025/26 season, engagements include Scarpia with Manitoba Opera, Monterone in Rigoletto at the Canadian Opera Company, Marcello in La bohème with Vancouver Opera, the title role in Gianni Schicchi with Opera 5, and Mozart’s Requiem with Orchestre symphonique de Gatineau. Future appearances include returns to Opéra de Montréal and Vancouver Opera.

Recent operatic highlights include the title roles in Don Pasquale and The Flying Dutchman with Vancouver Opera, Escamillo in Carmen at the Canadian Opera Company, and Hermogines in Rufus Wainwright’s Hadrian in Madrid. On the concert stage, he has appeared in Handel’s Messiah with the Rhode Island Philharmonic, Orchestre classique de Montréal, Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, and Vancouver Bach Choir, as well as Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the National Arts Centre Orchestra, the Brott Festival, Orchestre symphonique de Trois- Rivières, and Symphony Nova Scotia. A dedicated teacher, Dahl serves on the voice faculty at the University of Toronto.
