Christopher Pitre McBride
Christopher Pitre McBride is delighted to join Opera5 this summer as Marco in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi and as the assistant director for Suor Angelica. A native of Canada, Christopher completed his Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance at Western University and is currently pursuing his Master of Music at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music under the guidance of Brett Polegato and Stephen Hargreaves.
Originally trained in musical theatre and dance, Christopher’s early artistic path brought him to a brief appearance on Broadway. This experience, while formative and joyful, ultimately deepened his commitment to opera where he found a home for his storytelling, vocal expression, and musical curiosity.
Christopher’s recent roles include Sam in Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti, Oroveso in Bellini’s Norma, and Tarquinius in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia. These performances affirmed his passion for exploring characters of complexity and emotional depth, while continuing to refine his craft under the guidance of inspiring teachers, directors, and collaborators.
He is profoundly grateful for the opportunity to learn, grow, and create within the Opera5 community and is eager to embrace the discoveries that this program will offer during their month together.
Christopher believes that the heart of opera lives in shared experience and human connection. He approaches each project with gratitude and a sense of wonder, moved by the privilege of making music and memories with others. Especially when his colleagues are as talented, amazing, and kind as those he will be sharing the stage with over the summer.
