Angélique Brown
Angélique Brown is a mezzo-soprano from San Diego, California in the 2nd year of her master’s at McGill University. Growing up, she was a child actor under contract with Opera Pacific, performing in La Boheme, Tosca, Susannah, and Carmen. She attended Pacific Ballet Conservatory in Southern California and attended various ballet intensives with the renowned ballet companies ABT (American Ballet Theatre) and Joffrey Ballet. Angélique has an extensive background in lighting design and programming and was recognized for her achievement by The Cappies. She completed her undergrad at University of San Diego, where she was a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and was selected to be in their most prestigious, invitation-only alumni society, Alcalá 100. During her time there she worked at Valhalla High School as a performance clinician and music director, while also working as an independent voice and piano teacher. She also has worked extensively and advocates for music therapy and outreach for handicapped and disabled children. For the past couple years, Angélique has attended Bel Canto in Tuscany led by renowned maestro Giovanni Reggioli, appearing in scenes from La Clemenza di Tito, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, La Gazza Ladra, and many others. More recently, she appeared as Mère Marie in Dialogues des Carmelites with Opera McGill. In January, she will be performing in the title role of Lucretia in Benjamin Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia. She is excited to continue her artistic journey with Opera5, and to grow into a more well-rounded artist.
